Preventative Hygiene | Kaplan Dental Clinic

What is Preventative Dental Hygiene?

Dental problems become exponentially more expensive and serious – and painful – the longer they go without treatment.

Preventative hygiene involves relatively non-invasive and inexpensive treatments and activities that help to ensure the health of your teeth and mouth.

Preventative hygiene involves all the treatments and procedures involved in the prevention of cavities, tooth decay, and a host of other problems – and it starts right in your home.

Preventative Hygiene & Your Dentist

At Kaplan Dental Clinic, we offer a variety of treatments and procedures to ensure the longevity and health of your teeth and mouth. The following are some of the procedures involved in regular preventative hygiene cleanings and checkups:

CLEANINGS: At Kaplan Dental Clinic, we recommend that you visit our clinic at least twice a year for regular cleanings to remove disease-causing plaque and tartar that are difficult to remove at home.

X-RAYS: We recommend regular x-rays to catch the early signs of mouth and jaw diseases that are not visible to the naked eye.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING: Early detection is your best bet when it comes to oral cancer. Oral cancer screenings are a routine part of every regular dental exam and Kaplan Dental Clinic to help identify abnormalities that are not visible to the discerning eye.

Tips for at Home Hygiene

The dental procedures offered by your dentist can only be effective if you continue to maintain a consistent oral hygiene routine at home.

  • brush and floss twice a day to ensure the health of your gums, teeth and mouth.
  • visit your dentist at least twice a year to maintain your optimal oral health.
